Gravitec Systems, Inc.: Supporting NASA’s Artemis Moon Missions
By Joshua Mills, Director of Sales
As we embark on a new era of space exploration with NASA’s Artemis program, Gravitec Systems, Inc. is proud to have played a part in this ambitious journey. Our involvement with the Artemis missions reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting workers at heights and ensuring safety in even the most challenging environments.
A Legacy of Fall Protection Excellence
Since 1986, Gravitec Systems has been dedicated to protecting the lives of workers at heights around the world. With decades of experience in fall protection training, engineering, consulting, testing, and technical equipment sales, we’ve become the largest fall protection training company in North America, logging over 50,000 student-hours each year.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to keep workers safe by providing comprehensive fall protection solutions. We achieve this through our multifaceted approach, which includes specialized training programs, engineering solutions, and the sales of fall protection equipment.
Our Role in the Artemis Mission
The Artemis moon missions represent humanity’s return to the lunar surface, paving the way for future exploration of Mars. Gravitec is honored to have contributed to this effort by ensuring the safety of the technicians who work tirelessly to bring these missions to life.
For the Artemis missions, we designed, supplied, and have since installed a horizontal lifeline system, an engineered fall protection solution, in a critical area known as “the White Room” on the launch tower. This system is specifically designed to protect technicians from fall hazards when the space vehicle is not in place, providing an essential safety measure while they work in this high-risk environment.

Gravitec’s involvement with the Artemis program is just one example of our capabilities. Here’s a deeper look at what sets us apart:
- Comprehensive Training: With the largest fall protection training program in North America, we specialize in teaching workers how to prevent falls and use fall protection equipment effectively. Our instructors bring extensive field experience, ensuring that participants gain practical, hands-on skills.
- Innovative Engineering Solutions: Our team of engineers and consultants develops customized fall protection solutions for complex hazards. From conducting site surveys to designing and fabricating specialized systems, we provide tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of every project.
- Accredited Testing and Research: We operate an ISO 17025 accredited testing facility, allowing us to conduct ongoing research and development, as well as third-party testing. This ensures that our solutions meet the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
- Equipment Sales and Consultation: While we don’t manufacture equipment, we leverage our industry expertise to recommend the most reliable fall protection and rescue gear, helping clients find the best products for their specific applications.
A Commitment to Safety Standards
Gravitec actively participates in shaping the fall protection industry. Our founder, Randall Wingfield, served as Chairman of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z359 Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) for 15 years and Vice Chair of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z259 Committee. Our involvement with leading organizations ensures we stay at the forefront of safety standards and best practices.
Looking Ahead with the Artemis Missions
As the Artemis missions progress, Gravitec Systems is excited to have played a role in this monumental effort. Our work on the horizontal lifeline system is just one example of how we’ve contributed to the future of space exploration, ensuring that technicians working on these groundbreaking projects are safe and secure.
