REQUEST FOR QUARANTINE AND INSPECTION: Petzl ASTRO BOD FAST, ASTRO SIT FAST and CANYON GUIDE harnesses
Following the detection of a defect on the metal D gated ventral attachment point of a harness, Petzl is requesting that all customers quarantine and inspect the ASTRO BOD FAST, ASTRO SIT FAST and CANYON GUIDE harnesses.

SAFETY INFORMATION: CASES OF SLIPPAGE WITH ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS / ZILLON
“We have received reports of users experiencing rope slippage while using the ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS and ZILLON. Following these reports, we have identified two defects causing the slippage. We therefore ask you to do a manual inspection and a function test of your product, to detect any possible slippage. In case your product slips, we are providing details on our after-sales returns service.”

INSPECTION REQUEST: KERNMANTLE ROPES
One of our clients found 2 critical defects on his Petzl low-stretch kernmantle ropes. To date, no other client has reported similar defects to us, and no accident or injury is known. Please read the information below and, if necessary, inspect your ropes.

ASAP LOCK
On March 30, 2016, during routine equipment inspections, one customer detected cracks on the stainless steel arms on three ASAP LOCK units. In light of this information, a complete inspection of Petzl ASAP LOCK inventory was conducted and no cracked ASAP LOCK arms were found. Mechanical tests conducted by Petzl on the ASAP LOCK with intentionally cut arms showed that a cracked arm presents no additional risk to the user.

PETZL CROLL
Two different customers have informed us recently of the failure of the rivet head on two Petzl CROLL rope clamps. Neither failure led to an accident. These two CROLL rope clamps were used on offshore platforms in the North Sea. There was no sign of specific wear or damage on either CROLL before these failures occurred.

8003 (C05N) full body harness
There have been several incidents involving the 8003 (C05N) full body harness. These incidents, all of which occurred during use within the adventure park environment, involve the leg loops of the harness becoming loosened and/or unbuckled during use.

Special request to control the sternal attachment point. Improperly positioned safety stitching was found on one of the loops of the sternal attachment point.

Findings of indicative tests demonstrate that releasing a towing cord while towing a Petzl Shunt as a back-up device is not consistently effective.

Petzl asks users to immediately stop using all GRIGRI 2s with the first five digits of the serial number between 10326 and 11136. Excessive force on a fully extended handle may disable the braking function.

ABSORBICA: Request for immediate inspection (P/Ns: L57, L58, L58 MGO, L59, L59 MGO, L59 69, L70120 YG, L70150 IM, L70150 YM, L70150 I, L70150 Y, L70150 YM)
Notice follows a May 5, 2011, accident involving a Petzl SCORPIO via ferrata lanyard. Because of the ABSORBICA’s similar tear-webbing shock absorption technology, Petzl has issued an inspection recall of both the SCORPIO and ABSORBICA.

Follows a via ferrata accident on Thursday the 5th of May 2011. Investigation and analysis of manufacturing procedures specific to the production of tear webbing energy absorbers has identified a weakness which could explain the defect leading to the cause of this accident.
